Dr. Benedict Tieniber

Dr. Benedict Tieniber has dedicated his career to empowering young people through education, leadership development, and community service. For the past nine years, Dr. Tieniber has served as an educator at Lynbrook High School, where he teaches College Accounting I & II, College Business Law I & II, College Virtual Enterprise, and Senior Seminar. Prior to joining Lynbrook, he taught at the School for Tourism and Hospitality in the Bronx, where he developed an unwavering commitment to student success and preparing young people for future careers.

In addition to his work at the secondary level, Dr. Tieniber has spent the last decade teaching at the collegiate level. He has served as a professor at Farmingdale State College, SUNY Potsdam, Long Island University through dual enrollment programs, and University of Mid Florida, teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses in business and related disciplines.

Holding multiple advanced degrees, Dr. Tieniber brings extensive academic and real-world expertise to education. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph’s University, an MBA from SUNY Oswego, both an MS in Adolescence Education and Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from Dowling College, and School Building Leader/School District Leader certifications from Stony Brook University. His academic background continues to strengthen his work as both an educator and mentor.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Tieniber exemplifies the meaning of service leadership. For the past nine years, he has served as advisor to the Lynbrook Key Club, helping shape students into community-minded leaders dedicated to service. Under his leadership, Lynbrook Key Club has earned three International Distinguished Diamond Club Awards and has received numerous proclamations and recognitions from local legislators, Assembly members, State Senators, and members of the United States Congress for outstanding service to the community.

His commitment to student leadership extends across numerous roles, including serving as advisor to DECA, advisor to the S.T.A.R.T. Club, coach for middle school wrestling and baseball, and advisor for the Business & Marketing Honor Society. Outside of the school setting, Dr. Tieniber serves as Vice President of the Lynbrook Kiwanis Club, Vice President of the Long Island Business Teachers Association, Board Member of the Business Teachers Association of New York State, advisory board member for the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation and Westco Financial Group, a member of the Lindenhurst Moose Lodge, and a 4th Degree Knight and Board Trustee of the Knights of Columbus.

Dr. Tieniber’s impact has been widely recognized throughout his career. In 2025, he was honored as Business Teacher of the Year by the Business Teachers Association of New York State and received the prestigious New York District Key of Honor for outstanding service and leadership. Additional honors include being named Educator of the Year by the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce in 2024 and receiving the PTA Founders’ Day Award in 2021.

As an educator, mentor, advisor, coach, and community leader, Dr. Benedict Tieniber has built a lasting legacy centered on developing future leaders, expanding educational opportunities, fostering innovation, and inspiring young people to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
