Dr. Avis K. Chapman-Reese

Dr. Avis K. Chapman-Reese is a native of Riviera Beach, Florida with many years in the field of Education (Public, Private and Vocational). She is attended North Shore/Palm Beach Lakes High School (Class of 1989), Florida Memorial University (BS, Business Administration), Nova Southeastern University (MS, Education; EdS, Curriculum, Instruction, Management and Administration; EdD, Organizational and Educational Leadership).

Over the past 25 years, Dr. Chapman-Reese has served in the capacities of licensed Cosmetologist, Classroom Teacher, ESE Program Specialist, Assistant Principal, Educational Consultant, Youth Mentor/Motivational Speaker, College Professor and Cosmetology Instructor (Palm Beach and Dade Counties,) Dean of Education (Florida Career College), she was the first appointed Dean of Education (Palm Beach Academy of Health & Beauty), and Dean of Academic Affairs (HCI College). She is also a Professor (Teacher Education) at Central State University, Dissertation Committee Member at Alliant International University and Adjunct Professor at Hampton University.

Dr. Chapman-Reese has always been very active with various community organizations such as Urban League of Palm Beach County, Sickle Cell of the Palm Beaches, American Cancer Society, Council for Exceptional Children, A Diva Cares Foundation (Domestic Violence Advocate), Pathways to Success of Florida (Board Member) and Operation Hope. She is an active member of the West Palm Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and currently serves as 2^nd Vice President. She is the 2018 Valor Award Recipient of the Stiletto Awards honoring Domestic Violence Survivors.

She is the granddaughter of the late Deacon Wilson Gatlin; daughter of Gwendolyn Gatlin-Scruggs and Freddie Chapman, Jr., “Bonus” daughter of James H. Scruggs, Jr. and Antoinette “Precious” Harris Chapman; wife of Mr. Anthony Reese; mother of one biological daughter, Shonse’ Joseph; “Bonus Mom” of Ashley, Kendall, Anthony, Aysia; and “G” to Tamia, Mari and A’Nylah. She absolutely LOVES to cook/bake, travel and most importantly, spend precious time with the ones she loves.
